COVID 19 Update for Pebblecreek Montessori – March 14, 2020
Pebblecreek Montessori • Mar 14, 2020

Dear Pebblecreek community,

We wanted to follow up with you with a COVID-19 update and how we understand the recent declarations to affect our campus. In addition to national, state and local governments, we continue to closely follow updates from TEPSAC (Texas Private School Accreditation Commission) and the TEA (Texas Education Agency).

TEPSAC, the federal, state and local governments have re-affirmed the CDC’s current assertion that private schools and childcare facilities do not need to close unless there is a known exposure to COVID-19. In the event of known exposure, we will immediately pivot to following the guidelines for known exposure.

Interim Guidance for Administrators of US K-12 Schools and Childcare Programs

The federal government declared a national emergency on 3/13, which releases funding and puts some policies in place but does not impact or address school or business closures directly.

The Texas state government declared coronavirus a public health emergency on 3/13, and put restrictions on visitors to child care facilities. Based on the limited information provided so far, Wonderland schools will immediately restrict tours, observations and other visitors to our campuses. We will await further instruction on what else this policy will entail, and will implement immediately.

The Collin County government has not declared an emergency at this time or provided additional guidance. The associated website refers to the CDC for additional information.  https://www.collincountytx.gov/healthcare_services/Pages/news.aspx

We understand that some families want or need to self-quarantine. Please communicate as quickly as possible to your school administration if your child will not be present the week of 3/16-3/20, so that we may work to accommodate staff members who want or need to self-quarantine due to preference or health. Please also indicate if anyone in your household has traveled internationally to any Level 2 destinations in the last 14 days.

We will continue to update you and appreciate your continued support as our community collaborates to keep our students, families, and staff safe.

For questions about health and sanitization protocols currently being practiced in the schools, please reference our communication on 3/12/2020, or contact main@pebblecreekmontessori.org.
