Montessori-Certified Guides

Montessori-certified teachers encourage the formation of a close-knit community which emphasizes kindness, personal responsibility, exploration and cooperation.

Classroom Setting

The classroom is arranged according to subject area and children move freely around the room. Subjects include: practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, science, art, and cultural studies.

Multi-Age Classrooms

Pebblecreek students remain in the same primary class for the three-year cycle, moving from youngest to oldest from observer to leader. During this time, they form strong relationships with peers of all ages and with their guide. Upon completion of the primary cycle, children are promoted to first grade.

Passion for Learning

Students are exposed to an amazing amount of knowledge in the Montessori classroom, and often excel academically beyond what is usually thought possible for children their age. Students learn to independently manage their time and develop a focused, self-motivated work ethic.

Education is a natural process carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.

-Maria Montessori

Classroom Studies

The Montessori approach to the cultural subjects is based on the interrelationships of the earth, the animals and plants, and the people who inhabit the earth. Therefore, the subjects of history, geography and science are not taught as individual subjects but as connected parts of a whole.

Cultural Subjects

Pebblecreek Montessori students study cultural curriculum that includes experiments, maps, timelines, models and other learning materials. The goal is for the child to begin to answer what Dr. Montessori deemed the important questions: Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here?

Creative Movement

Primary Program students participate in activities to improve their coordination and balance. They learn to explore the world of creatively expressing themselves with their bodies. Through dance, students build confidence, self-esteem, and respect for those around them.

“We chose PCM over other traditional private and Montessori schools because of the care and concern expressed over the well being of the whole child. Both of our children have grown and matured in all areas of their development. I believe in their mission and have personally seen our children embrace learning and apply the concepts they’ve learned from a point of personal desire as opposed to an obligation. PCM creates “real world” opportunities for the children to practice the concepts they’ve learned. They are advanced academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We are forever grateful for the parent education programs and the passion expressed by all the teachers at PCM.”

It offers a true Montessori educational approach with emphasis not just on academics but on the whole child’s development including critical life skills such as emotional intelligence, independence, confidence, respect for self and others, social and communications skills required to cultivate early in life.”
