Montessori method meets children where they are, without judging them.
Conventional education has been designed specifically to prepare large numbers of children for entry into the workforce. This has changed in recent years, but many schools are still in the early stages of personalizing education. Differentiating instruction and catering to individual children's needs has not received much attention.
A Montessori school is designed to let each child move at his or her own pace. It is well known that learning is not linear, and that children are not ready to learn certain skills in accordance with a timeline devised by adults, or in perfect harmony with their peers. Those kids who need extra help with certain skills get it, while those who are ready to move forward are able to find the challenges they want.
